What do you see in the clouds? ☁️☁️☁️ ⁣
⁣
These spiraling cloud patterns off the coast of Morocco were captured by our @NASAEarth instrument on the Suomi NPP satellite on July 19, 2019. They're known as von Kármán vortices, which can form nearly anywhere that fluid flow is disturbed by a solid object. Here, the patterns formed when winds flowed around small islands in the North Atlantic.⁣

Right Chandra is gazing at a galaxies in Hydra! Nearby in the sky is spiral galaxy ESO 510-G13. The warped appearance of this galaxy suggests it has recently undergone a collision with another galaxy and is in the process of consuming it — a process that will take millions of years!

Caviar & Cigarettes 🐟🌕 Well versed in epithets. The Full Sturgeon Moon rises over the glorious Lions Gate Bridge (aka First Narrows Bridge) A bulk carrier is docked at the terminal in North Vancouver and some small fireworks shoot into the sky from Vancouver Harbour. Captured from West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ~ August 15, 2019 🚬🌕

At 3:15am a powerful thunderstorm woke me up ⛈
The lighting turn on and off the power and thunder shaken the house... I think I captured the loudest thunder boom ever and the best lighting picture ever too! ⚡️

Planetary Nebulae! What is your favorite? 😉

Planetary nebula, any of a class bright nebulae that are expanding shells of luminous gas expelled by dying stars. Observed telescopically, they have a relatively round compact appearance rather than the chaotic patchy shapes of other nebulae—hence their name, which was given because of their resemblance to planetary disks when viewed with the instruments of the late 1700s, when the first planetary nebulae were discovered. Only about 1,800 planetary nebulae have been cataloged.

Right Chandra is studying in Ophiuchus! Nearby in the sky is the bipolar Twin Jet nebula. Bipolar planetary nebulae contain not one, but two stars in their centers. The shape of the jets is likely caused by the motion of the two central stars around each other. The pair of jets seen here is streaming out into at over 1 million kilometers per hour!

Check out these lightning strikes last Saturday night west of Charles City, #Iowa! Storms return to Iowa late tonight with damaging wind and large hail being the primary threats.

LEGACY. What legacy do you want to leave behind? What do you want to be known for? It’d be easy to think that our lives are inconsequential and a mere pinprick in the scheme of our giant universe but what we do really truly matters, both in this life and the next. Are you living your best life and making it count? I feel called to share the beauty of NZ with others, to encourage and to inspire and even if it’s only one person who ever feels this way as a result of my work then it’ll all have been worthwhile. .
