✨7 Healthy Habits for 2020✨
For the past few weeks I’ve been sharing inspirational and informational posts to give you a boost to your healthy practices; whether you’re beginning or continuing your wellness journey. I’ve mentioned before, when making a change, sometimes just continuing to add healthy practices on a consistent basis can eventually aid in helping you kick out some of the unhealthy habits. And as you repair your health, your mind is stronger and clearer and you will desire more and more healthy habits.
So here’s #1
for today - BREATHE CONSCIOUSLY - at least 3 to 5 minutes per day. We take breathing for granted and just do it UNconsciously, therefore never giving it any thought. And most of us breath from our chest which is quite opposite from the preferred belly breathing. Conscious breathing alkalizes the body, oxygenates the cells and benefits the immune system. In addition, conscious breathing biochemically activates the parasympathetic nervous system and miraculously shifts our body’s central nervous system into a rest and repair state. How wonderful our divine designer was when He spoke us into existence. I know this doesn’t sound very profound but seriously it is imperative to the quality of our health. I can’t impress this unrecognized action enough and how critical this simple act is especially in our hectic world we live in. Even if you think your lifestyle is not overly committed or hectic or stressed, the fact that you live in this world is enough. Electronics, traffic, noise, chemicals beyond our control, the decline of our environment, the news, I could go on and on. Decide today to incorporate an actual breathing “practice”. Yes, “PRACTICE”. Like any other sport or activity, there’s a “way” to do it effectively and must be done regularly. I’ve shared in past posts but you can google it. The two methods I use are 1) from the book “You Are What You Eat” by Dr. Gillian McKeith (Amazon) and 2) the Wim Hoff method.
