I read something early this morning that said how "motherhood is the almighty equalizer." You go through your life, experiencing the things that you do, you grow through things, and feel pretty secure in who you are. Then Motherhood happens and is so insanely humbling, beautiful, and transformative. You hold onto the most important pieces of who you wore before becoming a Mom but you do change. You grow out of old ways and habits that no longer benefit you as a Mom. You get a little spread thin and can only give your energy to things that make you truly happy and will give your children a happy Mom. It's surreal when you think about all the hats a Mom wears. •
Today is my mom's birthday. And though grace is not something I would say runs deeply in our family, my mom has been her four children's first line of defense, their sounding board; and now as we are all getting older, she keeps showing up no matter how many tattoos we get, how many times we circle around the same situations, how many times we ask her to babysit, or how many dumb questions we have or when we complain to her about our siblings, and always sharing WRP posts •• she is always there without judgement. So a little shout-out happy birthday to my mom, @pattiricker
We love you!
