“Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. The one who does good is of God: the one who does evil has not seen God.”
3 John 11
The Early believers were called Christians and Disciples of Christ because they behaved like Him. The word “Christian” means Christ-like and this name was given to them by the people of the city of Antioch. This could only mean that the disciples did everything exactly the way Christ would have done it, if He was there physically because, at that time, Christ had already left Earth for Heaven. When people look at you, what do they say? Who do they see?
If you want to know if you look like Jesus, examine your character; if you truly follow Jesus, you will exemplify Him. We are to look, talk, act—behave like and resemble Christ in all things, because we are born of Him and not the society we find ourselves or the biological family we came from.
We must learn to represent Christ rightly so that the people of the world do not get a wrong impression or question what we stand for. Your life is the scriptures that people will read and either get convinced of or get pushed farther away from Christ. Emulate the character of Christ and practise it. Let your light shine brightly so men will clearly see your good works (how well you have represented Christ in words, actions, and character) and know that truly you are a believer. This will also draw them to the light of the gospel.
“In the name of Jesus, my life is the best example of Christ to those in my world. I emulate Him in all I do. Amen.” FURTHER READING
