We are excited to award a #DesignTrustFeatureGrant
to Raphael Monnier in our most recent January Grant cycle. Supported by a Seed Grant in 2018, Monnier designed and created bamboo modules for a pedestrian highway and community playground in Gyo Byu, Yangon. The highway provided the community with a car-free pathway in an environment where pedestrians are otherwise unconsidered.
Expanding on his work from the Seed Grant, Monnier received a Feature Grant in the recent January 2020 cycle and will be utilising Cantonese traditional bamboo craftmanship to benefit the community and provide a sustainable alternative to construction, a series of playground, sports field and community garden in Yankin Township, Yangon.
During these uncertain times, we are proud to play our part in ensuring continuous funding to design projects with community and social impact. Design Research has the positive power to accelerate change and it is now more important than ever to support our community of young design researchers and makers. The Design Trust Seed Grant supports emerging designers and young scholars by providing vital resources to kick-start meaningful and intellectual projects with social, educational, economical or environmental impact for communities.
The upcoming cycle of Design Trust Feature Grants and Seed Grants is open for application until 20 April 2020. Find out how we can help fund your project on our website https://designtrust.hk/grants/dtgrants/
