I love this image.
It’s an image of touch base & of safety. It’s an image of unconditional love and of “I’ve got you, my child, firmly and safely in my hands.” It’s an image of: “Mama, you are my world, no matter what you look like.” It’s an image of devotion, fear and worry of what’s to come, pride, deeply rooted drive to protect & happiness. Motherhood is beautiful, hard, wonderful, heartbreaking, amazing, raw and magical.
You don’t truly know anything about motherhood, until you hold your baby in your arms; whether this baby grew in your womb, or in your heart. From then on, everything else falls into insignificance, in one way or another.
You discover strength and abilities you never knew you had. You win, you fail. You provide, nurture and protect. You forget, you shout, you kiss, you hug.
You sometimes secretly eat that last biscuit in the jar, or their last pot of custard, but that’s ok.
You sometimes let them wee in the garden, because it’s easier than taking them to the bathroom, when you’re absolutely bloody knackered, sitting down to have your cup of coffee, amongst the garden toys around you on the ground.
Sometimes you completely forget about their school trips, or the non-school-uniform days, that’s all fine. It happens to all of us.
We only don’t hear so much about it because many play perfect. Fu*k perfect. Nobody is.
Motherhood is unique to every mother.
Don’t judge, ever. We never know what goes on behind closed doors.
Will I ever stop being broody?! *
