⚠️ IMPORTANT information about being a tourism and interacting with a CHANG: 🐘 ⠀⠀
~ DO NOT RIDE elephants! it can look nice and cute but their bodies are not built to carry weight on their back. to do so, they are tortured into submission, in a ritual called “phajaan” or the crush. 😔
• they are kept away from their natural environment.
~ they are often poached, abused and even mutilated, losing their tusks for the illegal ivory market. ⠀⠀
• Thailand has 2,500 to 4,000 elephants, most of them living in captivity.⠀⠀
~ deforestation and logging are one of the major threats to their survival. along the years, in Asia, the population decreased from 100,000 to 30,000.⠀⠀⠀⠀
🖤 HOW to be nice to this incredible and peaceful animal: ⠀⠀
~ respect them by visiting sanctuaries, where you can interact with them in a positive way.
• give them sugar cane as a dessert. 🧁⠀⠀
~ bathe them with old dirty mud and then take them to a nice swim at the river. 💦 ⠀⠀
• in Thailand, you have more than 100 national parks and you can experience the wild life of an elephant. always support and choose the sustainable tourism! 🙃 ⠀⠀
PS: yes, the elephants poop in the same muddy place you will play with them. don’t overthink it and you will have fun 💩 ⠀⠀
